Employment description

Logistics workers can be employed in transport, logistics, manufacturing, or trade companies. Their primary responsibilities involve the physical execution of cargo (goods) flow transportation, including planning, organizing, and controlling processes to ensure timely and efficient cargo delivery. They analyze and evaluate transportation process data, select the optimal transportation method and timing, prepare transportation plans and schedules, measure cargo parameters, and manage documentation using office equipment, logistics software, and calculation tools. Additionally, they have proficiency in geographic mapping and knowledge of transportation and cargo insurance.

Specific skills in the profession
  • Plan cargo (goods) flow in accordance with regulatory standards for various cargo types (dangerous goods, food items, liquids, bulk goods, and live animals), including adherence to temperature control norms
  • Use specialized software for calculations
  • Work with product nomenclature and harmonized product systems
  • Communicate proficiently in Latvian and at least two foreign languages (English and Russian) in both written and verbal professional contexts
